When you work with a Christian life coach you invite God into the process. Doing all the work by yourself, without support, can be quite challenging. A coach in partnership with the Holy Spirit helps you to see your blind spots in a safe environment." What is Biblical Counseling?

Biblical Counseling is the Christ-centered, Holy Spirit empowered, practical and therapeutic application of Biblical truths to a person's life through nurture, instruction, correction and prayer, with the goal of personal maturity and fruitfulness.  It is ministering Scripture to those who face struggles in life or who desire wisdom or God’s direction and based on the conviction that the Bible is sufficient for the counseling task and superior to anything the world has to offer (2 Tim. 3:16-17, He. 4:12, 2 Peter. 1:3-4, Ps. 119, Jas. 4:4).

Biblical counselors realize the significance of sin (Ro. 3:23, 6:23), and after self-confrontation (Mt. 7:5), lovingly confront those who are in sin (Lk. 17:3-4) and call them to repentance (2 Ti. 2:24-26).

Biblical counselors also realize that in a fallen world people can face significant crises that are not a direct result of their own personal sin (Job 1-2).

Biblical counselors purposefully and patiently walk with, serve, love, encourage and help people in these cases (1 Th. 5:14) and also call upon others in the Body to assist based on their gifts and roles (1 Cor. 12).

What Biblical Counseling is NOT?

It is NOT a chemical addiction treatment program, even though it may help addicts stay clean after the immediate addiction challenges are overcome.

It is NOT based on human ingenuity, human reasoning, or psychological techniques. The basis is God’s love, care, and truth, and Jesus’ finished work.

What type of issues can counseling help with?

It helps people deal with the following:

-Anxiety, Depression

- Marital Issues, Betrayal, Divorce (other relationship issues)

- Abuse / Family Violence

- Anger Resolution/Management

- Addiction Recovery - Drugs and Alcohol

- Grief and Emotional Loss

- Loneliness and Hopelessness

Confidentiality is guaranteed for all coaching and counseling clients except in the following cases:

* If child abuse, child neglect, elderly abuse is either reported or suspected.

* If the client poses a "clear and imminent danger" to either themselves or someone else including family members, colleagues or the threatened party.

* If the client is or becomes a "vulnerable adult".

* If the client releases information with written authorization.

* If a court subpoenas your records.

* When the consultation or supervision with another Therapist or Biblical Counselor and/or Life Coach is desired. If this occurs, confidentiality will be maintained between the two professionals.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

Living Water Counseling team  do not diagnose mental, emotional or physical disorders nor do we “treat” those disorders.  At the start  of or during a session, if we discern or believe that you require mental or behavioral health treatment or other services we are not credentialed to provide,  we will refer you to the appropriate licensed or credentialed professional preferably (Christian).

What is Life Coaching ?

Life coaching is not therapy, and I am NOT a therapist. A life coach does not diagnose or treat disorders. Therapy is for those who are primarily seeking relief from emotional or psychological pain. Therapy typically focuses on healing the wounds of the past. Should you require the services of a licensed mental health therapist, Psychologist or Psychiatrist, you will be referred to the appropriate professional.

Life coaching focuses primarily on the present and the future. Coaching is for those who are emotionally and mentally healthy but ready to grow.

With a life coach, you get to talk about your problems and challenges with someone who's not going to interrupt you, make judgments about you, criticize what you're saying, or offer opinions based on their own experience.

The coach's goal is to support you, the client, in overcoming whatever obstacles may be keeping you from creating the happiest, most successful life for yourself that you possibly can.

You are the expert on your own life, your feelings and values. Your coach is there to listen, make observations, ask powerful questions, and hold up a mirror to help you see what you may not see in our self. A good coach will challenge you, partner with you and believe in you. She or he will take you just as you are right now -- and partner with you to make your vision for your life a reality.

Some of the concepts behind Christian life coaching are biblical. We are called to "encourage one another and build each other up" (1 Thessalonians 5:11). We see Paul exhorting believers to live holy lives. We are told to "carry each other’s burdens" (Galatians 6:2).

Areas of Specialization: Couples Coaching, Spiritual Coaching, Parenting coaching, Addiction Recovery coaching, and Women empowerment coaching.

Why do you need a life coach?

People usually begin working with a life coach because they need some professional assessment, direction and motivation. Good coaches specialize in helping people with certain areas of their lives.

For believers, we are called to excellence in life and ministry. 1 Timothy 4:12 says to "...set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity." Coaching provides a framework to assess, develop and grow these key areas. The outside perspective and direct approach from your coach will allow you to eliminate blind spots and receive expert counsel, direction and encouragement.

What kind of things can you work on with a Christian Life Coach?

Discover your life purpose and walk in your destiny

Get fresh perspectives on personal challenges and opportunities

Enhance your thinking and decision making skills

Improve your effectiveness

Build your confidence

Deepen your walk with God

Demolish mindsets that are holding you back and much more.....
